Re: What would you most like to see in The Dollar Stretcher Community?

This has nothing with saving money but it has indirectly.  I would like to see a column on relationships/ marriage/ family relations.

Staying married is "cheaper" (someone said to me) than being divorced.  Well, for those of us in less than perfect relationships some woman to woman talk might make it more bearable (at least until the kids are 18, which is not any time soon).  Counseling is expensive and for all the sessions a couple can have is not a guarantee of any change.

My neighbor is a counselor but I would be too embarrassed to tell her my troubles.  WE also go to the same church.  WE are Mormon and the big "D" word is the very last resort , when things get really, really bad.

Oh well, My mother in law got a divorce after 31 years of marriage and wasn't any happier afterwards, she enjoyed her freedom but got in  debt and remarried her ex to solve her $$$$ problems..  Crazy world!

I don't have anything new to add, but can I cast my vote? I would love to see the sewing/crafts section and think the home remedies section idea is great also.

Yes, cast your vote! That's the only way I can tell how much of an interest there might be in different topics.

Carmina, maybe we need a section called "Families" or "Family Matters" for this as well as other family concerns.

Family matters would be a good section.  I'm with jayne, I don't have any new ideas, but sewing and canning would be great.

After re-reading this entire thread, I suggest the following forums:

    sewing & crafts

    home remedies

families:  one-income, two-income,work at home; family relationships; frugal kids

a sub-site of Frugal Food specifically for recipes (from Brianschef, me,  & anyone else who wants to jump in) -- off-topic responses should go into a different thread

    homemaking, recycling, & organization/FlyLady/household inventories

self-lawyering, Better Business Bureau, Congressional reps, isn't this outrageous

    food preservation & gardening

    energy savings

transportation (separate from ViJay's bicycle thread)/cheap trips & vacations

international financial differences (differences from he USA)

Is this a satisfactory list to others?  I tried to amaalgamate the posts above in this thread.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, His courts with praise; give thanks to Him, bless His Name. (Psalm 100)

    Yours in thrift, Deb

That's a pretty good overview, Deb, thanks. It pretty well lines up with what I have. Some of them can be grouped together to keep the community from looking cluttered or confusing. I'd like to wait a bit more to see if anything else turns up, and/or get some more votes on favorite topics.
