What would you most like to see in The Dollar Stretcher Community?

Thoughts, ideas, questions? What's on your mind? What do we not have forums for, what do we not cover? What would you most like to see in the Dollar Stretcher Community?

I would like a forum on sewing & crafts.  Both to save money & for the sheer joys.  Simple living & frugality combined.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, His courts with praise; give thanks to Him, bless His Name. (Psalm 100)

    Yours in thrift, Deb

Ideas on short vacation or day trips.  Like what to take, should you stay at a hotel, should you take pets, do local parks, or go to an amusement park?  How about food, drink, overnight bag?  Should you take it out of entertainment, or save for it for vacation, or even just take off and go!

Powering down.  Doing more with less electricity.

Gardening, everything from kitchen window to half an acre.

    Downsizing room by room.

    2 car family?

Home appliances, necessary or not?  We will never own a clothes dryer again. : )

Solar and wind power, should we invest?

Home improvement articles and the costs involved.

    Household inventories.

Differences between a trust and a will.

Maybe more saving tips etc for Canadians since there some basic differences for saving like no double coupons etc. Also I have noticed from reading the dollar stretcher for years that lots of people are paying off of medical debt and copays/insurance etc. Most people I know are lucky not to have those problems.  Our system is far from perfect but here basic medical is $108/mth per family. Low incomes pay less. You have to buy extended medical for prescriptions and dental if you don't don't get benefits from work. For example,  The only costs with my c-sections etc were the private rooms $95.00 per day, reg rooms are included. I wanted some peace.    I guess the Canadians have to step up with the tips.      I am jealous!  Last year our medical expenses with medical insurance were about $10,000- $3,300 for insurance and almost $7,000 for co-pays, etc.  Can I hop over the border (I live in Minnesota) and be Canadian?

Oh, ideas- Budgets, holidays, home/apartment/yard expenses, not keeping up with the Jones and how that is, that's all I can think of now.

Car upkeep, simple auto repair, car insurances, alternative transportation suggestions.

Raising edible meats and fishes at home in your own backyard, city or country.   Worm beds...

Safe deposit boxes, good, bad or ugly?

Proper food storage, inventory and rotation.

How much is too much?  Food, clothes, crafting material, sewing material, blenders, food processors and mixers, etc.!

Dryer racks, are they worth it?

    Utility alternatives.

    Vegetarian or carnivorious?

Tracy you are welcome :)  There is good and bad in the system. I believe our taxes are higher and we don't have the same writeoffs. No writeoffs for mortage interest or tax receipts for donating items to thrift stores. Getting big taxes returns here means you overpaid or put alot of money into RRSPS (like iras) at the last minute  for tax writeoff!

I like the idea of a place for home remedies (with full caveats, of course!) and a forum solely for food preservation and storage recipes and techniques so I don't have to chase BriansChef all over the place...Liz
