I would have to say no. My husband's change in employment has had a financial effect in that we have gone through much of the savings and I am unwilling to spend more than we need to right now.

I met financial goals for last month. Yay! We have an emergency fund again! This month we should come out at least $550-$700 ahead of bills thanks to overtime. I'm working on the $1500 savings now to repair my Chrysler Town and Country minivan that's been sitting since the beginning of March.

I paid $100 principal plus the interst charge on each of the 4 credit cards we're paying down, plus the $250 Tractor payment to the bank. Total for the cards and tractor balances are $7030.

As a side note, those of you that remember a septic discussion thread a few months back, relating my problems with an automatic washer and a small drain field......it's been temporarily fixed for only $65! Dh and boys ran a new line out of the concrete wall in the basement, and ran something called Sock Tube from it and way down the hill, then buried it. He had most of the material and tools, and it was^$65 at Menards to get the rest. Now my automatic washer works perfectly and my septic is behaving!

With the job change, I feel more comfortable keeping cash on hand. I hope within the next few weeks we get farther ahead so I can pay extra to the debt.

Is dh fishing?  Was wondering if that helps the food budget at all?  Does he bring fish home?  It is comforting to have cash and food and household supplies on hand when you have lower income or higher bills.

He is shrimping or as we call it, trawling. He has brought home 40 pounds of shrimp and several fish so far. Yes, this definitely helps with the food budget. Also, while he is out, his meals are covered.

    Re: Debt Check August 2007

August has been a bad month.

Unexpected increase in inusrance premium due to changing payment due date and the claim from dd accident, utility bills due from our old house and our new one, still waiting for the water/sewer bill from our new place, our computer died and we had to pay $230 to get it repaired (dh needs this up and running for work support after hours) ended up getting CABLE STUPID STUPID to get reception--$16 monthly for crap shows--but the rabbit ears did not work at all--not even one channel came in, and our car needs a repair that is going to cost around $300? probably.  We once again will be rebuilding our baby emerg. fund back up to $1000 after the car repair and computer repair.

On the bright side, cash all the way and we know where every penny is going.  sigh...   Just wish it was going to debt repayment.  Sometimes I miss the mindless lifestyle of the good old days, a lot more income and put it on plastic and forget about it.

25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
