    Re: August challenge?

I have been away from home for close to two weeks now so I am getting caught up and tying to put together info to roll out this month.

Maybe a back to school challenge? It is my first year so I don't know much about the whole process yet! Apparently we pay the school for supplies because they buy in bulk so supposely we get a better deal.  I bought a bunch of clothes/jackets/shoes for an awesome deal from a friend so I am set for that. Picked up a blues clues backpack from the thrift store for  $2 and then our new homestay gave a hello kitty backpack to my daughter. My son has a thomas backpack given to us waiting for me for preschool so we are set with a spare.  Thats all I know to do for school so far! Don't know what all the fees will be.

I considered something that dealt with back to school or fall events. I have no experience with real back to school activities as a parent though. I homeschool my children and our school year starts in January.

If others are interested though, I do have some ideas I think I could use to make that sort of challenge worthwhile.

Do you have to get new books or supplies etc for homeschooling? or take advantage of the sales? Or is that something you do all year round?  I shop all year round for the kids....grabbing deals when I see them.  The clothes are something she needed anyways - replacements for stuff she grew out of.

I do make use of back to school sales for supplies so I was thinking of some tracking of expenses for that along with some other thoughts.

Brandy ~ Not having children to supply for any type of school, we do take great advantage of back to school supplies to build our home office stocks, for shoe box gifts, for donations, etc. I think it would be a great idea to start a back to school sale thread.

I just bought 10 double pocket folders at Staples for $.10, and am going back for more this weekend with 2 - $3 off coupons!
