Well, have $29k in unsecured debt and working on getting it paid down. Currently, using Dave Ramsey's Baby Steps. Have emergency fund of $1k and now working on taking care of the debt. That is not including mortage or car loans. Husband and I are working together to bring this down. Contacted brokerage and liquidated $2.9k to go against the debt. *taking deep breathe*... Here goes baby step 2. Hope to get this done within 2-3 yrs. Wish us luck!:)

When I was married it seemed like we never had any extra money. We always paid our bills on time but then had to charge things to make it through the month.

Now that I am alone, I have to look at things differently. I am the only one who pays my bills so I am also working towards getting out of debt.

I have been making extra payments on my credit card and am considering paying extra on my car payment. Once my car is paid for, I can actually start putting some money back for emergencies.
