  • Ditching Cable

    Well, our cable went out last night. We are now living in a small town where we only have one locally owned cable company to choose from.  Never mind the fact that 15 minutes down the road, we could have Comcast (although, from what I hear, I'm not sure if that is a good choice or not!).  My husband called the cable company last night at 9pm to find out what was going on.  Apparently, there is no one there after 6pm!  No technical support, no customer support - NOTHING!

    We started to talk about it and decided that the few shows we do watch on cable, we can catch on hulu.com.  So, hubby is going to call the cable company today and cancel cable.  I've been wanting to do this for a while now, but, there has always been some excuse - hubby likes the History channel, I like the Food and HGTV channels, and kids like Noggin.  I personally think this is going to be good for us - at least to the tune of $60/month!

    Hey there, I'm Sailor's Wife.  My husband is a career service member (can you guess which branch?).  We have two beautiful children - dd, 5 and ds, 3.  Dh is now on shore duty so, we have lost some of our extra pay for being on sea duty.  I'm always looking for ways to save money and earn extra money.  I look forward to sharing some thoughts and ideas with you and, hopefully, learn some new ideas as well!
