I couldn't agree more with your conclusion re. the Honey Nut Cheerios vs. Malt-O-Meal heirarchy :) however I take great issue with your assessment of the more "cost effective" brands, i.e. Kroger and Great Value. I feel strongly that your ordering here should be reversed. It is from much experience and a long-standing devotion to the Great Value family of products that I speak. My love for the brand was born out of necessity (single mom, 9 children, 8 fathers, not all of them still living with me!! lol), but my commitment perseveres even through times of relative affluence (child support payments...woohoo!). But I digress. I implore you revisit your experience with the Honey Nut Spins. I myself have found them to be delightful - a delicate even risky pairing of nut with a spin. The complex aroma of toasted barley blending with fresh from the hive New Zealand manuka honey, all for the low low price of...whatever it was.

Greek yogurt. There are three of us that do the Spendwise Moms website and it was one of the other moms who did this test because they like Greek yogurt.

FWIW: I find the Yopliat Greek Yogurt to have a super sweet start with a lingering nasty bitter aftertaste from the artificial sweetner (acesulfame potassium) used in it. Of course, the way people experience the various artificial sweetners varies sometimes dramatically from person to person so you have to take that into account. :) I'm a aspertame girl myself (it's the least offensive of the artificial sweetners for me).

I'm not familiar with Brown Cow yogurt - could it have had an artificial sweetner in it that gave you the bitter taste?

We began this years ago when we wanted to get debt under control. Now we just keep doing it out of habit. I think it's a good way to be reminded of spending and whether it's been a need or a want. It helps us stay on track!

This way I have a visual image of days when we have NND (no new debt...which is almost always), days when we charge something (paid off when bill comes in) and days when we spend nothing.

Even tho it's called 'vacation' by the time it's over I am tired and just want to relax when I get home. Besides, there is always laundry to do if I want something to do! A clean house is a peaceful, welcoming feeling as you walk thru the door after being gone.
