So, here's where we stand.
Without creative accounting, I have run 416 miles for the year. I have 84 to go.
Now, for that creative accounting:
I do a quarter mile cool down for nearly every run. I have run over 100 times this year so far. I know that I skipped my cool down a few times, so I conservatively figured that I have "run" that cool down at least 80 times, which means I have an additional 20 miles I can add to my total. (So, for those of you keeping score at home, if I'm being "creative," I've gone 436 miles for the year and have only 64 to go, which is more doable).
I'm thinking I'm going to keep that 20 miles in my back pocket for just in case I need it. Otherwise, I'm just going to continue running 25 miles each week until the end of the year.
Because I work better under a stiff deadline, which also includes the holidays, sending out cards and gifts, additional cooking, traveling, and shorter days.
Yeah, I did not think this through.
Rest assured, I will hit my 500 mile dinger by December 31 if I have to run all day on New Year's Eve. This is a function of both my incredible stubbornness and my distaste for my chosen crappy charity.
Here's hoping the flu shot I got yesterday will help keep me healthy through all of this.
