If you recall, back when I lost my mind, I challenged myself to run 500 miles in 2012 or else I have to pay $350 to a crappy charity. Running 500 miles in 12 months breaks down to about 42 miles per month, which I though I could easily wipe out. I was so cocky, I thought I might be able to start January ahead by a few miles. I believed this despite the fact that it has been 1 baby and several years since the last time I ran. Oh, how delusional I was.
It is currently January 17, and I have run far less than half of the necessary miles for the month. My lack of mileage breaks down thusly:
Week of January 2: 0 miles (Now, to be fair, I was fighting the cold that WOULD NOT die. Seriously, anti-biotics and NyQuil just made it angry.)
Week of January 9: 6 miles (2 miles each on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday)
Week of January 16: 5.5 miles (3 miles on Monday, 2.5 miles today)
Total Miles as of 1/17/12: 11.5
Only 488.5 miles to go!! (Please note that those are sarcastic exclamation points.)
While I was super pleased to discover that I can run 2 and 3 miles at a stretch without needing to call the paramedics, I'm definitely not into the groove I'll need to keep up with my challenge. It's possible that I will still get my 42 miles completed for January, but that happening would require me to show more energy than I've expended so far in the first half of the month.
Check back around the end of the month to see how far I've managed to run. It'll be easier to really work at it since I know the Dollar Stretcher Community is holding me accountable.
