Winter is most certainly upon us!
At least in most of the USA it is.
So while limited on funds, what are
some good ideas for staying warm?
Here are a few:
- A heating pad
(from goodwill, thrift stores or a garage sale) works wonders! We like to
put one at our feet as we get into bed. Use it where you most need the
- Electric Blankets
can be put on top or even under a mattress pad and set on a timer to go
off after you've fallen asleep.
- Space Heaters
are good for bathroom warming while keeping the rest of the house at a
lower temp. Just remember to turn off after the bathing is over!
- Wood heat
is actually my favorite! We are blessed enough to also have a blower on
our insert in the home we are currently in. It has been a great source for
warming the house on one fire we would already be enjoying!
- Recycled kindling is
a cheap option for using up things that would normally be thrown away -
like in this video
- Double layering of
clothes, socks and blankets really does keep the warmth in!
- Canning in the winter
is one way we keep our house warm (and cool in the summer). Frozen garden
goods (grapes, berries, tomatoes) are canned to warm the house.
I'm SURE there are more ways to keep
warm than just the few mentioned above, but perhaps they are some that you've
not thought of before - so I hope you'll add them to your warming regimen.
