The School Room: Education at Home

A blog about one family's adventure in homeschooling on a budget

Don't Panic! Yes Panic!

The excitement of the holidays has passed, the leftovers are all eaten or frozen for future meals and the decorations are packed away for next year. It's time to sit and relax. Or is it? As year long homeschoolers, we begin our new school year in January. So it is time to organise the school books, prepare records and lesson plan! This would all be grand except...

IT's FRIDAY! School begins MONDAY!!

Where did the planning time go? Which Christmas box, which baked dish, which holiday chore took all of my time? So I sit here in a panic over preparing the house and books for a new year of studies. Thirteen years of home education should have taught me routine and early preparation but I somehow always end up doing last minute planning and organising.

Will I be able to prepare the lessons in time to begin on schedule? Will the quality of the lessons meet the regular standards of our education? Check back and find out how I handle this.

We homeschool too, and I hadn't thought of starting the school year in Jan.  What a great idea!
