These words refer to methods and types of curriculm that homeschoolers use to educate their children. Our family has a whole family whole life approach with classical principles and eclectic materials.
Now what did I just say? Good question and every day I am reminded that I haven't figured out all the answers yet either as I continually ask questions myself.
My husband and I decided years ago that if two parents were required for the existence of children then two parents were likely meant to raise the children. We began our adventure in living, playing, schooling and even working together as a family. We have had some good times and we have had difficult times but it's been an experience rich in life and love.
If we were going to see homeschooling as a whole family involvement then realising that subjects we studied were not lonely topics and everything we learned either came from a life experience or led to a richer life. So we came to believe that homeschooling called for a whole life approach...everyone involved and our whole lives connected to learning.
Please don't confuse this with unschooling. We have structured class times and use some textbooks. It also stands apart from unit studies. We just believe in connecting all of us in a shared life and connecting learning to that life.
If you are seeking a united approach to living and schooling, I invite you to share our adventure with us and set out on your own!
